GREENFIELD NEWS - 27TH November 2008:

GREENFIELD

Sunday services are at 11am Family worship with Junior church and crèche. 6pm Evening worship. Rev David Jones.

FAMILY NEWS:

It is with sadness that we heard of the death of Alan Hobday following a long illness. Alan was a much loved member of our church and will be sadly missed by us all. We extend our love and sympathy to Sheila and all the family in their
loss.

Betty Davies has been admitted to Prince Philip Hospital. Jack Richards has been admitted to Glangwili Hospital.

THANKS:

Thanks to Christine Nicholas who led last Tuesday morning’s service and to Stephen Thomas who led Bible study last week in the Minister’s absence. The Friday youth club who raised £50 for ‘Children in need’. They made cakes and sold Pudsey bear stickers.

We were disappointed that despite ’phoning through to the BBC the contribution did not appear! Never mind there’s always next year!

To the ladies who helped with the coffee and refreshments at Candace’s prizegiving held last Wednesday in the chapel.

MINISTER’S CONFERENCE:

Our Minister was at the annual Baptist Minister’s conference at Saundersfoot last week. Main speaker was Martin Robinson who spoke on mission. It was interesting to hear of the new Bible Societies initiative ‘Lyfe’ encouraging
small groups to read and discuss the Bible in cafes and other places.

It was good to hear from Delyth Davies of the BMS (who is with us in January) and Rev. Peter Dewi Richards, president of the English wing of the Baptist Union of Wales and Rev Dr John Weaver President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain.

LOOKING FORWARD:

The sponsored walk held in October has risen over £1000 for the Blind Dogs Association. Friends from the association will be with us on Sunday 7th December to receive the donation cheque.

At 7pm on Thursday 11th December a service for the bereaved is being held at Greenfield. The service last year saw many who had lost loved ones come together for a service of remembrance. This year again we have been asked to host this service and everyone is welcome to come along.

On Wednesday 17th December at 6.30pm there will be a community carol service on the lawn around the Christmas tree. The Llanelli Salvation Band will be accompanying the singing and there will be mince pies and coffee served in the schoolroom. If the weather is inclement the service will be held in the chapel.
